People may disagree with my stand, arguing that the creator deserves the respect and recognition for all of his life. Even the extra seventy years can be justified as a necessity because the creator's immediate family and cohorts can continue to benefit from his or her genius that way. I can see the validity in this argument, but I see the length of copyrights as superfluous and unnecessary.

Copyright
I was blown away with the amount of detail and history that goes into copyright laws. Jason really knew his stuff Im thankful that he came in and talked to us about all the ins and outs of copyrights. I appreciate what copyrights are meant to do, which is to expand the arts and sciences, however I do not like how long the copyright lasts. The author's life plus seventy years seems excessive if you ask me. I would be okay with for the entirety of the creators life just because they deserve that respect for their creative works. The extra seventy years just seems like a corporate maneuver to make money off their creative works for as long as possible. Jason talked about how the Walt Disney corporation lobbied their representative and were responsible for the extra twenty years that the copyright lasts. So obviously this lengthy law is only really serving the money seeking components in the copyrights last several years.

Joe Hatch Advice
Since I am a Mac user I assumed that I was immune to viruses and other computer ailments. Joe hatch informed me that Macs are able to get viruses, however viruses are indeed more common with PCs. This is because people like to attack PCs since the PCs are the majority of computers used. Now I know that I can get viruses, and that I should install Sophos to protect myself.
